Berlin Incident and Aviva Travel Policy

As you will no doubt know by now, an incident occurred last night where a lorry was driven into a Christmas market in the centre of Berlin. So far 12 fatalities have been reported, with 48 people injured.

FCO Advice

"German authorities are investigating whether there's any link to terrorism; you should remain vigilant and follow the advice of local authorities; the German police have issued a contact number, +49 30 540 23 111, for people concerned or who may have relevant information."

Aviva Stance

  • In the first instance they are advising customers to contact their tour operator if they no longer wish to travel.
  • For those customers who are in Berlin and wish to return home early, they will extend cover to allow them to return to the UK.
  • For those customers who are booked to travel to Berlin before the 27th of December, and no longer wish to go, they will offer a cancellation claim if their tour operator is unable to assist.

  • They are preparing communications to and website updates.

    Within Aviva they are keeping a 'watching brief' and will issue further communications if required.
